01 · The story

Founded to connect two markets.

Tong Shang International Commercial Bank (Gambia) opened officially on 22 November 2018. The bank describes itself as a joint venture of Gambian and international investors, brought together under one name: Tong Shang, 通商国际商业银行(冈比亚).

A joint venture of Gambian and international investors gives the bank a table with two markets sitting at it. That shapes how it approaches trade, currency and the businesses that move goods and money between The Gambia and the wider world.

Today that means banking done in person at the head office on Gambia Street: Savings, Current, Fixed Deposit and Premier accounts, money transfer, foreign exchange and safety deposit lockers, arranged with our staff. Read more about banking with us.

The slogan, "Take You Forward and Growth Together," is not decoration. It states plainly what the bank is for: the bank grows when the families and businesses banking with it grow. That is also the thinking behind the Tong Shang app, now being built with Ask Tong, a personal CFO for every customer. Learn more about the app. It is in development, with no release date yet.

02 · The crest

A crown, two lions, crossed keys.

The Tong Shang crest: a crown above a shield with two lions and crossed keys

The Tong Shang crest sets a crown above a shield. Two lions stand either side of the shield, and two keys are crossed at its centre. Beneath the crest sits the bank's bilingual wordmark, Tong Shang in English and 通商国际商业银行(冈比亚) in Simplified Chinese.

03 · How we work

Plain terms, an open door.

A bank you can walk into.

Our head office is on Gambia Street. Come in, ask questions, and leave with clear answers and the paperwork you need.

Two markets, one table.

Tong Shang was founded by Gambian and international partners. That mix shapes how we think about trade, currency and the businesses that connect The Gambia to the world.

Growth together.

The slogan is not decoration. We grow when the families and businesses banking with us grow, so we explain our terms in plain language.
